Don’t you agree? I know I would pay a nice amount of money to see it live and Dr.Dre is already making plans to take the attraction on tour.
Brobible does a great job of breaking it down:
Representatives for Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre are discussing the logistics for a concert tour with hologram Tupac. There are proposals for a huge tour in stadiums, involving other hip-hop stars, including Eminem, 50 Cent and Wiz Khalifa. They may opt to go on a trial tour hitting smaller arenas and featuring only Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and the virtual Tupac. Whichever route they decide to take apparition Tupac it would take many months of creative and technical planning.
Hologram Tupac was created by Digital Domain Media Group Inc., the visual-effects house that allowed Brad Pitt to appear in various ages of his life in the 2008 movie that won the Oscar for visual effects, “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” The CG company also did the visual arts in “TRON: Legacy,” “X-Men: First Class” and “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.” Dr. Dre approached Digital Domain a year ago to discuss the possibility of creating a virtual Tupac. The visual arts company began creating the Tupac apparition four months before Coachella. Digital Domain’s CEO Ed Ulbrich commented about the difficulty of created the illusion, “To create a completely synthetic human being is the most complicated thing that can be done.” He revealed that hologram Tupac’s performance at Coachella was not found footage and was completely created. The ghostly Tupac had a price tag of anywhere between $100,000 – $400,000.
